James Bond film to be released in India before US release

Quantum of Solace starring Daniel Craig will be releasing in on 7 November prior to its US release. This is for the first time in the history of Hollywood that a film will release first in india, followed by the US. The movie will be first released in the UK where it hits screens on 31 October. Quantum of Solace’s US release has been scheduled for 14 November to coincide with the long Thanksgiving weekend.
Quantum of Solace is a sequel to 2006’s Bond flick Casino Royale, which was based on Ian Fleming’s novel. The film is directed by German-Swiss film maker Marc Forster. It also stars Olga Kurylenko, Gemma Arterton, Dame Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giannini

Dhanush turns to be the God of Guruvayur

Rajnikanth has signed a film to be produced by Pyramid Saimira and to be directed by Murugadoss. Rajni has agreed to do this film in order to make up the losses incurred in Kuselan. Shankar sacks three assistant directors

It is a known fact that the song sequence of the film Endhiran was shot in Peru, Brazil. The song featured Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai. Director Shankar was in a great shock when he saw the stills of the song on the internet. In fact he was overcautious that Rajni’s getup should not be leaked. But unfortunately four stills were uploaded in a Blog Spot.
Shankar who is back home has made a detailed enquiry about the leak of the stills. He enquired how many of his crew members had camera mobile phones. Amitabh Bachchan discharged from hospital

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was discharged after treatment for intestinal obstruction, has promised to work harder to "please" expectations of his fans who gave him strength to fight another medical battle.
"Your love overwhelms me. Your concern for my well-being humbles me. I owe so much to you. I can only promise back greater care of myself and the promise of harder work to please your expectations of me," the actor wrote on his latest blogpost.
According to him, rest and recuperation is the order of the day for him at least for a while.
"My sincerest thanks to all those who gave me strength to fight another medical battle," he said.
Coming home on Friday from hospital seems auspicious. It is a good day, say soothsayers and those that command our lives through the study of the stars. "I hope so", he said.
Explaining his ailment, Bachchan said it was intestinal obstruction. Either twisted or stuck or compressed and not functional.
He recalled that Rials tube, a thickish tube that is inserted in the nostril pushed through the back of the mouth into the throat and in the food pipe, was finally inserted after eight tries.
He said he was admitted in the same room 1101 where his mother was in for almost two years before she died in December last year.
In pain, he shut his eyes and recalled his letter to her in 1948, "ma..aap jaldi wapas aa jao. Mujhe aap ki bahut yaad aati hai. Mere pet mein dard ho raha hai! (ma..come back soon. I remember you a lot. I have pain in my stomach).
Describing what happened to him in the early hours of his birthday last week, he said he woke up in pain at around 2.30 am and thought it was due to generous eats over dinner.

Meera Jasmine has bagged the first Srividhya award

Meera Jasmine has bagged the first Srividhya award for the best actress. She has been chosen for the first Srividhya award for her role in ‘Orae Kadal’. K.B. Ganesh Kumar, chairman of the MLV Srividhya Charitable Society, said that a jury comprising veteran Malayalam film director Siddiq chose Meera Jasmine for the award.
The award would be given on actress Srividhya’s second death anniversary, which falls this Sunday. Srividhya died on Oct 19, 2006, at the age of 53. She had acted in many South Indian films.

Audio launched for Surya S/O Krishnan movie

The audio launch of Surya S/O Krishnan, the Telugu version of his Tamil flick ‘Varanamayiram’ was held at Prasad Imax in Hyderabad recently. No long speeches, no lengthy list of guests, but some good numbers played and rendered by the singers Karthik, Devan and Naresh Aiyer. Venkatesh, Ram Charan Teja and Priyamani were the chief guests graced the event. The film’s hero Surya, heroine Sameera Reddy, director Gautham Vasudeva Menon and music composer Haaris Jayaraj were present.

Venkatesh unveiled the audio CD albums and presented it to Ram Charan Teja while Priyamani released a song separately. PROTEST IN CHENNAI ON NOVEMBER 1 AGAINST THE CRUEL KILLING OF TAMILIANS IN SRILANKA

Kannan to direct Jab We Met remake

Jayam Kondaan director Kannan is the chosen one to direct Moserbaer's Tamil remake of Jab We Met, which will have Bharath and Tamannaah in the lead.
The director was preferred over many others as the producers feel that he is in tune with youth audiences. Kannan a former assistant of director Mani Ratnam, understands the pulse of today's audiences, as proved by the success of Jayam Kondaan.

Shriya Saran is very happy and is all smiles these days. The trailer of her first Hollywood film The other end of the line is being appreciated.
The film releases in US on October 31. Last week she personally sent a clipping of the trailer to all her friends.
In the trailer she looks absolutely smashing. She plays the role of Priya an employee at an Indian call-center in Mumbai who travels to San Francisco to be with a guy, the hunk Jesse Metcalfe whom she falls for over the phone! Shriya has a steamy kissing scene with Jesse which has been picturised very well.
Meanwhile she is all excited about playing Kamal Hassan's first wife in a flashback scene in Marmayogi, and also liplocks with the actor. Shriya has become Kamal's biggest fan overnight, seeing his dedication and the meticulous way he narrated the script to her.
Shriya has an interesting line-up of releases ahead The Other End OF Line with Jassie, Sarath Kumar's Jaggu Bhai, where she plays his daughter. Then there is Vikram's super-hero action adventure Kanthasamy, Deepa Mehta's What's Cooking and above all Kamal Hassan's Marmayogi

Gautham buys back Vaaranam Aayiram from Gemini

In a sensational development, Gautham Menon has brought back the Tamilnadu theatrical rights of his magnum opus Vaaranam Aayiram from Gemini Picture Circuit (GPC), for a rumoured price of Rs 21 crore!
The trade is dazed by this news. Remember we had reported a few days back how VA Tamilnadu theatrical rights were sold for Rs 14 crore to GPC, by Gautham after the original producer refused to hike the price, as the film was done on first copy basis.
Now GPC, is a making cool Rs 7 crore profit on their investment made more than a year back. Gautham wants to be in total charge of the project as the film is an ode to his father Vasudeva Menon, who passed away last year. He wants the film to release for Diwali (Oct 27), at all cost.
All the vexing issues regarding the film have now been sorted out. Gautham’s own Photon Factory will now look after the films release. The skeptics in the trade say Gautham’s buy back of Tamilnadu theatrical rights was at a very high price.
Can a Surya film recover the Rs 21 crore from theatres in the state? His last release Vel a super hit has done business worth only Rs 14 crore from TN theatres.
But Gautham is confident that Vaaranam Aayiram will be a mega hit if it is released this Diwali, and he will surely cover his cost. Gautham Vasudeva Menon, has once again proved that he is Kollywood’s gutsy trendsetter and a man willing to take risks.

Namitha refuses to talk about marriage

Namitha, the buxom beauty of Tamil film industry recently evaded the question of marriage in a press conference.

When question regarding her marriage was raised she politely said no comments on it. Few years ago during her initial days in the tinsel world, Namitha had a close relationship with a photographer. But after a few months she discontinued the relationship and started concentrating on her career.

When the question of her marriage was asked Namitha said that she is not interested in answering these kind of questions and her whole mood was changed after that.


She told that the media wrote against her that she had got married to somebody. "It hurts me a lot. But I don't have any wrath against the media. They are my good friends… I'm taking this sportively" said Namitha.

Namitha is presently shooting for her Jaganmohini and is said to be pining a lot of hopes in the remake film. The original version of the same had created history in the box office.

According to film pundits, this is the first film in Tamil film industry which will have a lot of investments poured in on a heroine oriented subject. Since, the film is full of masala elements the producer is liberal in investing.

The hardcore fans of 'Thala' Ajith are in a joyful mood after hearing the title of their matinee idol's next film, Surangani.Goutham Menon, one of the most sought after directors in Tamil is going to direct Ajith for this Sivaji Productions magnum opus. After a careful search for a suitable title for this film, the director has suggested Surangani and immediately both the actor Ajith and producer Ramkumar accepted the same.But unfortunately the title was already registered by a producer in the Council. Now Sivaji Productions is negotiating with the producer to get it for their project.
The shooting of this film will start on November 1 in Chennai.Surangani is going to be Ajith's next film after Aegan. According to sources Ajith has been impressed a lot with Goutham Menon's script with a difference from others.
The film is about a man who rises from humble beginnings, to become the biggest don in the world, while Sameera Reddy will play the role of the gangster's moll. The film will have music by Harris Jayaraj, and camera is by Ajith's favourite Nirav Shah the man who gave him a different stylish look in Billa.The film will be shot at one go, and will be ready for an April 14, 2009 release.

Ravana Movie Directed By Mani Ratnam

Finally Mani Ratnam using his clout has managed to convince the Kerala Government, and has got conditional access to the virgin green Malayatoor reserve forest areas to shoot his Ravana.
Last Friday the shoot was suspended after Kerala forest department found unauthorized construction of thatched huts in Mani's shooting location.
However the government has put forward stiff conditions. Now they will have to pay Rs 10,000 per day for the shoot, earlier it was only Rs 1000 for the entire 25 days shoot!
During the shoot no member of the unit can smoke ( can start forest fires), nor any plastic material( mineral water bottle?) can be brought into the location.
The unit cannot consist of more than 150 people, only 10 unit vehicles (generator van, caravans for artists etc) and 15 cars including jeeps can be brought into the location.
Only one generator will be used for the shoot, Jimmy Jip cranes cannot be used for the shoot. The shooting will be allowed only during 6AM to 6PM. No night shooting will be allowed.
Mani had no option other than agreeing to these terms. His plans to shoot in Sri Lanka would never have materialized, as the war against Tamil's holed up in Northern part of the island is getting bitter.
Meanwhile Abhishek Bachchan and Aiswarya Rai will join the shoot on Friday. Already Vikram, Pritviraj and Priyamani are at the location.
It looks like Vikram will have to share his caravan with Pritviraj, due to the limited number of caravans allowed on the sets!
